APM Terminals (APMT) Pipavav has received the first train from Maersk’s new service connecting ceramic exporters in Morbi via Maliya to Port Pipavav.
The new rail service is a result of close collaboration between APMT Pipavav, Pipavav Rail Corporation Limited (PRCL), and Maersk.
With this launch of this new product, all parties are hoping to decongest roads and improve the speed-to-market by reducing the total transit time by 15 per cent.

The rail service was recently inaugurated by Sanjiv Garg, Managing Director of PRCL, and Amit Bharadwaj, Chief Commercial Officer of APMT Pipavav, with the presence of representatives from Maersk and other partners such as Aaraya Ocean.
Earlier this month, APMT Pipavav also commissioned a 1,000 kWp DC capacity solar power plant to reduce 10 per cent of the port’s total energy consumption.
The solar power plant is expected to generate approximately 1.53 million KWH of power per year and reduce Port Pipavav’s carbon footprint by 1100 tons.
