City, county elected officials prepare ballot arguments for sales tax increases | News

Elected officials are preparing ballot arguments to make their case for voters in the City of Sonora and the unincorporated areas of Tuolumne County to approve increasing the sales tax rate by 1%.

Waters in the Nov. 8 general election will consider separate ballot measures that would boost the county’s sales tax rate from the state-mandated minimum of 7.25% to 8.25% and the city’s from the current 7.75% to 8.75%.
