With a record-breaking 147 home sales in Hawaii closing at over $10 million in 2021 — 19 of them in Maui — an exceptional property on the island featuring ocean views has hit the market at a reduced price of $22.5 million, according to Hawai’i. Life real estate firm.

The 6,000-square foot residence is booked by two master suites with a large great room as the focal point.

Sitting on over three acres, the property at 4557 Makena Road. in Kihei, Hawaii, is one of only seven lots in the Keahou subdivision, “making it a rarity,” according to a representative of Hawai’i Life, which holds the listing.

William and Susan Walters of The Walters Group, a land development company, are the sellers.

“This is one of the top houses on all of Maui,” said David Richardson, the listing agent with Hawaii Life. “With just seven lots in the Keahou subdivision, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to purchase an exceptional property with complete privacy, yet close proximity to all that Wailea offers,” including shops, restaurants and golf courses.

The single-level home, with vaulted ceilings, is the fifth highest-priced listing in Maui, the highest being $59.5 million, according to Hawai’i Life statistics. There is one condo and 13 homes currently for sale for over $10 million on the popular island.

The home totals five bedrooms and four full bathrooms. A beautiful, large and comfortable home theater was recently added to the estate. The landscaping, which underwent major upgrade in 2018, is immaculate and lush.

“The property has a very estate-type feel without being too pretentious,” according to Hawai’i Life, with a gated entry featuring lava rock walls. It is bordered by natural drainage gulches offering greater privacy.

There’s an infinity pool with views of the ocean, but if you miss putting your toes in the white sand, then the beach of Palauea Bay lies just across the street.
