Latham & Watkins has added a real estate partner from Linklaters in Germany.
Carsten Loll will divide his time between Latham’s Frankfurt and Munich offices in the move, according to an announcement by Latham on Friday.
He joined Linklaters as a partner in 2017, and was previously a partner at DLA Piper for seven years, where he headed up the firm’s international and German real estate practice.
Loll’s practice focuses on advising private equity firms and institutional investors on real estate matters. He has previously advised clients such as Blackstone and BNP Paribas REIM, according to his Linklaters page.
Michael Haas, the global co-chair of Latham’s real estate practice said: “We see exciting opportunities to further grow our European real estate practice, and Carsten’s arrival will help consolidate our position as the market’s premier transactional firm.”
In April, Willkie Farr & Gallagher poached the Latham & Watkins employment partner Anne Kleffmann, who left the US firm to join Willkie Farr’s Frankfurt office.
A number of firms have bolstered their real estate practices in recent months, with McDermott Will & Emery, Polsinelli, Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough and Greenberg Traurig hiring groups of real estate lawyers in the US, with partners at various firms reporting high demand.
Linklaters did not respond to requests for comment in time for publication.
